Vishal Shah, M.D.
Medical Director
Dr. Shah graduated from the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and completed his residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center. He has spent his career working as a physician in hospitals and intensive care unit settings throughout Vermont. He has trained in integrative medicine and extensively in acupuncture.
He is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and holds a Certificate of Advanced Qualification (CAQ) in Hyperbaric Medicine through the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS)—the only provider in Vermont with this credentialing.
What began as a random college SCUBA elective in 2003 led him to discovering the peace and beauty of deep ocean waters and inspired him to integrate his interest in diving with his passion for medicine by opening this center. Dr. Shah is an avid scuba diver and is certified as a Rescue Diver. As Vermont's only Divers Alert Network (DAN)-affiliated physician, Dr. Shah also offers medical evaluations for commercial, rescue, and recreational SCUBA divers.
His hobbies read like a survivalist retreat collided with a mad scientist: exploring Vermont's trails and waterways—usually with his four-dog entourage in tow, dabbling in molecular gastronomy (because why just cook when you can spherify?), practicing acupuncture on willing friends and family, and perfecting his raised-bed hugelkultur gardening techniques. After 15 years in the Green Mountain State, Dr. Shah is fully "Vermonted" and now spends mud season tapping maple trees to make syrup and toiling away on all the endless amateur woodworking and household projects that he promised his wife he would eventually finish.
